What is the repeat button for?

When using the repeat button that is on the burial address window, it  created a second location, with only the name of the cemetery.  Since I'm inputting tombstones from a local cemetery I thought this might be a short cut.  Is there something I should do to use repeat button instead of the select button?  What is the repeat button for?

  1. You have to hit the repeat button for every piece of information that you are trying to use.

  2. Huh?  Repeat button?  What repeat button?

  3. Or just go straight down clicking on the name of each relevant field. It's easier. You don't have so far to go with your mouse.

  4. I'm missing something here. Like Michelle said, what repeat button?

If you go to the Burial Address window, as Cathy - Claycamp originally talked about, or the Birth, Christening or Death address windows, or the Event address window and look around (they're only small windows) there is a Repeat button to be seen on the right hand side. I can't guarantee you'll see it, but it's there.

  6. Thanks JL Beeken for that.  As they say 'you learn something new every day' & I just did thanks to you.  I'll have to give it a bash & see how I go.

There's another very odd but sometimes useful related tip.

It's not just the last address you entered that will work on Repeat but also the last address window you had open.

So, for instance, you open the cemetery address window for the husband. You don't do anything in there, you just open that window and close it again. Now, if you go over to enter the same data for the wife, that cemetery address will work using Repeat or just clicking the field names.

Crazy, huh? Do the Legacy guys stay awake all night dreaming these things up?

  8. I used the repeat button on three people added to the data base. Now the cemetery is listed four times.  The main one with numerous people on the list.  The other three have only one person on the list.  These are the three I used the repeat button. So now I just go to the list, and select the first cemetery.  It's just easier for me.

  9. Cathy - Claycamp If cemeteries get listed more than one time, and that does happen, just use Combine Duplicates under the Options button and it will clean up your list in a second. It's just easier.

The duplicates will also be merged if you ever use (and you should) the File Maintenance tools under File. The middle one is called Master Lists Cleanup.

  10. I tried the repeat button again after this discussion.  It does add a duplicate to the list.  I use address list, then type a few letters for the name, then select and save.  It is more time consuming, but you don't have to combine duplicates at the end of the day.
