Just One Thing - JOT this down - FamilySearch has released its schedule of webinars/seminars for March (yes it is March!). So if you are in Salt Lake City you can attend in person OR if you are not you can attend from home. 36 classes that cover several countries research and some research methodology. If you haven't settled on a research log yet, learn more about them (Mar 9). If you are working on your Irish ancestors, 4 sessions (Mar 17 - of course!), just starting with Revolutionary War Records, join the session (Mar 23). And that is just a sampling. J Paul Hawthorne just posted the link to the FamilySearch blog about the live-streamed RootsTech sessions. I told you we would be sure to post it when it became available. Why not take a look at the list, download the syllabus for any of the sessions that interest you ,and then follow along live or watch the recording. You can be a distance attendee of RootsTech/FGS. This year they have done an excellent job of including sessions on technology, methodology and ethnic research. I took a quick look at the sessions and a few of these were on my "toss a coin" because there are two sessions I want to attend. Now I don't have to make that choice. Originally shared by Tessa Keough I am thrilled to share this news today from the Legacy Family Tree Website - the Freedom Webinar Series , honoring the sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation and the end of the Civil War. "1865 changed the trajectory of the nation forever." Four webinars (the Freedom Webinar Series) will provide genealogists and family historians with some serious research topics about African American and pre/post Civil War records research . Lisa Louise Cooke gave an excellent presentation on one of our favorite topics - using Evernote with your genealogy . And we have our own Evernote fan and teacher here in our LVUG Community, Shannon Thomas, who has shared her tips and suggestions for using Evernote with Legacy . Between the two of them - no excuses for not learning and making use of Evernote with Legacy. Shannon continues to share how she uses Evernote with Legacy and it is a huge help in getting my head around all the things Evernote is capable of.   So this is a webinar to watch to help you get the most from two great programs - Legacy and Evernote . This week is an easy one (a no-brainer!). There are a handful (6) genealogy/family history speakers who I will make every effort to see in person, watch a webinar or hangout, or listen to a podcast or recording if they are the presenter. Why? Because these individuals have a great deal of insight, I always learn something, and they make every effort to update and keep their content current and thoughtful. For me, one of those speakers is Thomas Jones.  Over at the Legacy Webinar series, you still have a few days to enjoy his "Debunking Misleading Records" webinar before it goes behind the paywall. Perhaps you attended live (it may be worth re-watching), perhaps you missed it (check it out). Thomas Jones is not a light presenter (when I first started out in genealogy, he was a special speaker and his material was far over my head). I am happy to say now "I get it." Is anyone else having a problem watching the archive of the Illinois webinar by Thomas MacEntee that was this Wednesday?  I tried 3x yesterday and 3x today and it only loads the first 10 minutes.  Thanks.

Tomorrow Legacy Family Tree Webinars is presenting a Webinar entitled Virtual User's Group Meeting . Although the name is quite similar to our name, this meeting is part of Legacy's webinar series and not affiliated with our LVUG Community . But hey, learning about Legacy is always a good thing and the more opportunities we have, the better.
