What a great way to learn more about our American history.

I am really looking forward to learning more about these records and resources from three accomplished presenters.

I am thrilled to share this news today from the Legacy Family Tree Website - the Freedom Webinar Series, honoring the sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation and the end of the Civil War. "1865 changed the trajectory of the nation forever."

Four webinars (the Freedom Webinar Series) will provide genealogists and family historians with some serious research topics about African American and pre/post Civil War records research. Check out the website to learn more about the presenters - Angela Walton-Raji, Bernice Alexander Bennett, and Melvin J. Collier, as well as the specific topics.

As an added bonus -  3 previous webinars (recorded and archived at the Legacy website) are freely available through January 2015.

Hats off to Pat Richley-Erickson for drawing our attention to the International Decade for People of African Descent and to Geoff Rasmussen and Legacy for scheduling these webinars. Well done!
