Family History Month - The National Archives Virtual Genealogy Fair.

Wondering how to close out Family History Month - well today and tomorrow The National Archives is hosting a Virtual Genealogy Fair. Both days are chock full of presentations and you can attend from the comfort of your own home. What's in store and why watch? (1) handouts can be downloaded from the website (I love handouts - helps me remember the highlights and provides those links we want) (2) the presentations are available on YouTube - so watch what you want when you want (we all have busy days so perhaps you can catch a few live and watch the remainder recorded) (3) the changes we see on a monthly and yearly basis make learning how to do our research in the nation's attic helpful. Whether you research online, in Washington, D.C., or at any of the regional archives' facilities - make it easier on yourself by learning what's available, how to get to it, and what to do with once you have it! Tuesday's Tip - October is Family History Month in the USA and there are so many activities you can join in on to celebrate the month. In previous years I have provided a tip a day (they are all here in our Community - just select Tuesday's Tip in the Filter to view them for the first time or as a reminder). This month I am focusing on living family as my brother is in the midst of chemo and has had a few setbacks or bumps in the road requiring my time and attention (we both live in the same area and our extended family live farther away). Things should be back on track soon, but in the meantime, might I suggest that LVUG community members give some thought to the upcoming #FindAGrave Community Days scheduled for October 7-9. (1) You can sign up at FindAGrave to take photographs and add memorials OR transcribe photographs of tombstones that are in the queue. (2) You can simply go to the nearest cemetery and take photographs to add to FindAGrave's ever-increasin
