Family History Month - The National Archives Virtual Genealogy Fair.

Wondering how to close out Family History Month - well today and tomorrow The National Archives is hosting a Virtual Genealogy Fair. Both days are chock full of presentations and you can attend from the comfort of your own home. What's in store and why watch?

(1) handouts can be downloaded from the website (I love handouts - helps me remember the highlights and provides those links we want)

(2) the presentations are available on YouTube - so watch what you want when you want (we all have busy days so perhaps you can catch a few live and watch the remainder recorded)

(3) the changes we see on a monthly and yearly basis make learning how to do our research in the nation's attic helpful. Whether you research online, in Washington, D.C., or at any of the regional archives' facilities - make it easier on yourself by learning what's available, how to get to it, and what to do with once you have it!

(4) you can share your knowledge with others - I will be watching while I work on appointments for November & December for my brother (we are back on schedule for chemo treatments) - multi-tasking in the best way. How about you? Why not share if you attend and what were your aha moments.

We will be back on track come November - October really threw me for a loop and made me realize how much families go through when a serious diagnosis arrives and upends schedules and plans. Let's all remember that the spirit of Family History Month is to hold our families close - whether those are our ancestors or our living family members.

Take care and enjoy the virtual genealogy fair (the only downside - none of that great fair food - deep fried ice cream or elephant ears - shout out to the Minnesota State Fair and the Longview, WA summer fair).
