Hello - new to LVUG community.

Hello. I am new to your group and only found it via you tube. I am enjoying the video's and tips. I am also new to Legacy and my goal is to correctly cite my sources. My research is primarily focused in Ireland, New York state and some in Canada,

I just imported my database into Legacy 8 Deluxe from PAF - some questions.

I just imported my database into Legacy 8 Deluxe from PAF. Years ago I traded databases with a very distant cousin and merged hers into mine. Legacy has flagged many errors in the data she provided. I would like to delete all the descendants she provided below where our lines meet. That goes back to the early 1800s. I'm really only interested in my family line and not very very distant cousins. Anyone have a suggest on a easy way to delete them?

I just want to say thank you to the LVUG community.

I just want to say thank you. The LVUG Community is amazing. I'm a newbie on Legacy and twice I've watched the Hangout sessions on YouTube and you guys addressed issues I was struggling with. The first one was on how to cite sources. GREAT stuff. You got me past that hurdle. The second video I watched last night when I couldn't sleep. You talked about the Add-ins available. I really wanted to know more about GenSmarts. I probably won't get it just yet, but at least I've seen it in action and I know it's out there. So, thanks again.

This year I have been taking a certificate course in genealogy andsocial history.

This year I have been taking a certificate course in genealogy and social history. It has been an adventure and also lots of work. As the year came to a close and final projects were turned in and oral presentations were given, I looked back on what I learned. My biggest takeaway - we don't know as much as we think we do with our genealogy. Many of us have done genealogy for years and it really took looking at my family group sheets, pedigree charts, and reports with "new eyes" to find answers to questions I should have been asking long before this course. Focusing on one family for a limited period of time and filling in gaps both with records and historical information was a continual process of finding one answer and having three more questions pop up. What was a huge help was being able to print out charts, group sheets, and reports and in this my Legacy software has been my saving grace. Of course it is a great piece of software (otherwise we would not be

Using the source clipboard in Legacy 7.

As long as we are discussing sources-- I am aware of and use the source clipboard a lot and have 7 or my saved slots filled with my favorite and most often used sources. Love it. Also have the source clipboard setting 7.5 set to allow one source on the source clipboard. But i am curious about the other option in 7.5 setting "Allow up to 5 sources". I do know that when you click on the single bar, and you have a source in each one of the tabs, all 5 will be assigned to that particular event. Why would a person want to do that - in what situation? I guess I need an explanation as the value of this option. I think I would quickly have a very big mess.

How to make a global correction to a source detail in Legacy - help.

Does anyone know how to make a Global correction to a SOURCE DETAIL  to a source used  by more than one person?  If  I make a correction  or an addition to the the SOURCE DETAIL, it would be so nice to be able to have this correction made to every person using that particular SOURCE DETAIL.  Without having to manually correct each source detail.  I know I can copy the source in the SOURCE LIST SCREEN and paste into the event where the previous incomplete Source Detail was recorded and then delete the previous source.

Continue to learn with genealogy conferences.

I think one of the best things we can do for ourselves is continue to learn - whether that is learning more about genealogy or learning more about Legacy. Last weekend I had the opportunity to present on "Avoiding Shiny Penny Syndrome" at the #SCGSJ2016 (Southern California Genealogy Society's 2016 Jamboree). I originally gave a 5 minute tip about Shiny Penny Syndrome 4 years ago during a Legacy Idol "contest" that Geoff Rasmussen ran as part of a Legacy presentation. I built on that idea and my presentation includes lots of references to Legacy Family Tree Software because it is my software of choice. It was live-streamed and recorded and will be available until July 5th. Geoff and the Legacy/Millennia team were in the Exhibit Hall helping current and future users with their questions. All in all, it was a terrific experience for the 1,400 genealogists who attended. Now today's Tuesday's Tip is to take a look at the 14 free to view recordings b

Someone had the idea to list all source detail under Master Source comments.

Someone had the idea to list all Source Detail under Master Source/Text/Comments. And it scrolls on and on and on and on. Can hardly blame them. The wording Text/Comments does kind of suggest this is where to put it.

How do I copy a source detail that I already input previously?

For example, several weeks ago I input some information I obtained on my grandfather and forgot to add an event into his father's file because it was new information.   I don't want to re-input all the source detail information and I'm figuring there must be a way I can pull up this previously used source detail information I forgot to enter.
