Legacy can produce web pages - how do I do that?

You may or may not know that Legacy can produce web pages so you can put your family tree onto the internet. It’s relatively simple, click the Internet icon on “My Toolbar” & select “Create web pages…”. You get a dialog much like one for any report. Fill that out to your satisfaction and click “Create Web Pages” and your done. It does a reasonably good job, you can get away without having to deal with HTML programming. (Although I couldn’t resist learning some of it.) Now the reason for the post and my question. I cannot figure out where the various font types and sizes are controlled from. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the Web Page Creation dialog so I am thinking the fonts are controlled from some of the report settings. However no matter what changes I made in the report fonts they do not replicate in the web pages. Your thoughts and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Tagging by surname and adding spouses - how?

I have tagged all the individuals with the surname Smith in my database. Now I want to tag all the spouses for those individuals. How do I do that?

Using Legacy with my DNA test results - how?

' evening all.  I am working with a cousin to try to figure out how to log her Ancestry.com DNA test into my Legacy 8 program, but have hit a roadblock that I hope someone can help me with ... The first thing it asks is what kind of test it was.  Well, we don't know.  We have searched the Ancestry site and have not been able to determine what kind of test it is (they only have 1 test now but they fail to say the name of it).  Does anyone out there know what the current DNA test is?  Or which of the 7 Ancestry test options in Legacy I should/could use to record the results of the current Ancestry DNA test? Thanks, Wade

Issues with my Legacy database - help.

I have not posted before but I am in serious trouble. I use Legacy and love it but I am in trouble and cannot seem to obtain a reply from Legacy. I was making some changes in my Master event definition list to make the descriptions more consistent. But now I find I have errors and the error message appears when I try to export a Gedcom "event definition was not found". Upon closer examination I have found the Birth Master list entries has vanished and 1871 English census is the same. I have resorted to backups but this error seems to have been there a while and I will need to add over 100 family members to get back to where I last have a clean file, Sigh. Can anyone make any helpful suggestions or should I just start rebuilding.

Why and when to use split screens?

I was wondering if when we  use the split screen is that for only Legacy family lines? I would like to use that when I am entering other types of records  ie. census, marriage, birth, death. etc. Could I scan the record and look at it with this split screen while I enter the information in?

A rather crazy busy January/February.

I don't know about you but I had a rather crazy busy January/February. Another group I belong to (the Guild of One-Name Studies) was on board for exhibiting at RootsTech (in Salt Lake City early in February). One of the volunteers who planned to not only work the booth but also provide some of our booth items ended up canceling her trip. Much of the planning, preparation, setup, "manning," and take-down fell to yours truly (with huge assists from a handful of dedicated Guild members/volunteers). I learned lots about exhibits at genealogy events in a short amount of time! We were thrown a final curve ball when another volunteer had a medical issue come up the day of her flight and was also unable to attend and help out with the booth. Surprisingly enough, everything turned out fine and we ended up having a great time. Lessons learned and these lessons also apply with our genealogy:: (1) something will happen (it always does) and you need to "go with the

Searching for a name within a source citation.

I have found the need to search for a name that is within a source citation. He is the preacher who married two different couples in my tree.  The name is pretty unusual.  Is there a way to search for a name within the source citations?  Thanks for your advice!

Using the Snipping Tool with Legacy - issues.

I have installed Windows 10 and have been using the Snipping Tool often.  My wish is that I could copy that image into the notes for an individual.  I have tried saving the image or clipping as pdf and jpg and it will not stick.  It is there visually but is gone once I save the note.  You can insert that image into Word and no problem.  I know many of you will say I should save that as a media item and link it to the individual but I really don't want to do that.  At this point, if it is an obit, I have to word process it into notes.   If you are wondering what my thought process is on this (and I often wonder about my thought process myself), I have used notes for everything on anyone - census, marriage, newspaper articles, etc.  I am doing that so when I want to write a bio on that person I will have the structure and the details of that bio in front of me.  Has anyone tried saving an image into notes and been successful?  Has anyone else ever requested being able to do this

Something glitchy with my Legacy - help.

I did something wrong - got error menu - no code - "event definition not found".  Now I cannot delete it NOR am I able to do anything whatsoever with it or anything to do with legacy program.

Uploading my Legacy Gedcom to Ancestry - issues.

I recently uploaded my Legacy data to an Ancestry tree, just to see what works, what doesn't, etc. I'm looking for ways to share all my hard work. What didn't work was all my notes - general, research, event notes, etc. They do not appear with any of the records displayed in the Ancestry tree. I used the Ancestry upload feature within Legacy. I note that when it creates the file, there are no "customize" options that occur with normal Gedcom exports, but the resulting file was a normal Gedcom and all the Note codes with Note texts were there. They just do not get picked up by Ancestry when it translates the data. Has anyone figured a workaround? (This is probably all explained somewhere important - but I haven't come across it yet. :) I realize Ancestry would rather you build your tree on their site, but I prefer Legacy...)

Cannot add a comment to your last post for some reason.

Bob Thompson: Cannot add a comment to your last post for some reason. Reinstalling Legacy should help. For more details go to the Legacy website. Right click on Help Center and select Troubleshooting help, then select Error Messages and Problems. You'll find Error 530 down the list. Hope that helps.
