Something glitchy with my Legacy - help.
I did something wrong - got error menu - no code - "event definition not found". Now I cannot delete it NOR am I able to do anything whatsoever with it or anything to do with legacy program.
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
Can you open your event definition list - select View tab/Master Lists/ Event Definitions. If you can open the list do you see the event that is causing the problem? It should be there as Legacy would not have created the event initially if it didn't appear in the list.
ReplyDeleteYou should be able to see it. If it isn't there, any chance you might have deleted it? Next step is I would try (re)adding the definition.
Also run the check/repair under the file maintenance menu - that can help some of the not found things. You might need to do that twice if you get an error the first time.
ReplyDeleteIf you can open Legacy at all, try to do a repair: choose File, then File Maintenance, then Check & Repair. If it returns any errors, run it again until it runs without errors. Then from the same File Maintenance option, run Compact file. That might allow to then fix the definition list.
ReplyDeleteSolved - I did a number of things - no help - only worked when I closed my file opened a new one with a diff. name and exxported. TNX for all the ideas.
