Not finding my customizations - help.
I just downloaded the newest update to Legacy. Now none of my customizations are sticking. How can I get them to stick?
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
This is a known issue that the programmers are working on. Make sure you save your settings as "User-Defaults" so that if you lose your settings after in a update you can then "Reset to User-Defaults" and you will be everything back with one mouse click.
ReplyDeletepretty sure I did that but I'll try it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh that is not good Melanie Armstrong - for the average Legacy user, this is not something s/he does and it would be quite disconcerting. Did it work for you when you next opened Legacy?
ReplyDeleteNo. They are still there one minute and gone the next. Michele Lewis says that it is a known issue that's being worked on.
ReplyDeleteWe come to depend on things being consistent and issues throw us. Kind of nervous about updating now.
ReplyDeleteA lot of users don't know that they can save their custom settings using the User-Defaults. If you want to save EVERYTHING then all you have to do is go to the Documents\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData folder. Right click that folder and then select SEND TO > COMPRESSED (ZIPPED) FOLDER. Now you have a backup of all of your custom settings, all of your report settings, your color schemes, you name it, it has been saved.
ReplyDeleteIf there is ever a problem you can delete your _AppData folder and then replace it with the one you just backed up.
I agree Michele Lewis - each time I mention it in the LVUG Community, we get questions.
