Using Function Keys F4 & F5 in Legacy.

Following on from +Mike Edwards post re Using Function Keys F4 & F5 to have your notes window & sources window open at the same time... this is what I get when I press the F4 after opening the 'Notes' section.  Anyone got any suggestions please?

  1. Michelle, this is a trick that I have never used so I thought I would give it a try.  It works for me.  I hit F5 first which brought up the Notes window and then I hit F4 which brought up the Assigned Sources screen with the Notes line highlighted.

  2. But, you have to hit Function 5, first.  (yea, ask me how I know.  LOL)

Does your keyboard require a "Function" key and then "5"  ??

That's all of my brilliant suggestions before coffee.  Good luck michelle kaplan

  3. I think you might be hitting the function key with your F4 key - and you don't need to (use just the F4 and F5 keys). When you use the F keys in conjunction with the  function key (that key at the bottom of the keyboard between control and windows keys) then you bring up different functions - here screen choices). Clear as mud?

  4. From the screen shot, I can't tell if you have the individual screen open. Do you? It works perfectly fro me. Are you running Deluxe or Standard. I use Deluxe. Don't know if it matters.

  5. the function key at the bottom of the keyboard must be used in conjunction with F1-F4 keys; F1-F4 are dual function keys

  6. Yeah!!! Thanks everyone, finally got it thanks to Ronnie E Reynolds.  You were all very helpful but Ronnie E Reynolds explained it in a way I could understand (I'm not that computer savvy).  I've never used the 'fn' key at the bottom of the keyboard (thought it was an optional extra lol), I was using the F keys at the very top of the keyboard.  Anyway, I used the 'fn' key & got the sources to come up - yeehaaa!!!  Thank you.

  7. I didn't have to use the function key at the bottom of the keyboard. Perhaps that is because I'm running Win 8.1?

  8. Different computers, different keyboards, different operating systems.  Sometimes it is just really REALLY hard to compare, apples don't aways equal oranges??  SIGHHH

My keyboard right now, has NO function key in the bottom row.  BUT, the lap top does.  I use an external keyboard with the lap top.  SO, there is apples and oranges and more confusion.
