New to LVUG community.

My name is Lynne Dick and I live in British Columbia, Canada. I have been researching my family tree for many years. I have used PAF, Family Tree Maker and switched to Legacy Deluxe 2 years ago. I am still learning how to use all the features available on Legacy. I alos enjoy the webinars that Legacy offers. Right now I am trying learn more about Legacy reports and how to make them attractive and interesting to family and friends.

  1. Lynne,
One great way to jazz up reports is to take the time to customize the "event definition" sentences.

In the Help File type in the word "Sentence" (no quotes) and then click the word "Event" that appears underneath that entry.  This explains how to customize your sentences.

To get to the screen where you can do this, go to VIEW >  MASTER LISTS > EVENT DEFINITION.   When I working with Events I like to Purge my unused ones so that I can see what I really have.  OPTIONS > PURGE UNUSED.  Uncheck the box that will put the defaults back in.  As you customize each event, you can then tag that event so that you know it has been done.

Highlight the first event you want to work with and then click EDIT over on the right.  This is the screen where you can change the way the sentences will be worded.
