How do I reuse RINS?

I am using Legacy 8.0 Standard.  I would like to reuse the RINs that have become vacant because I deleted or merged individuals.  I have followed the Help instructions but nothing happens.  There is no indication but is this a function of the deluxe version?

    If you chose to log all changes to a text file you can find the text file called RINLog.txt in the Legacy program folder.  If the file is not there than you did not renumber them correctly.

    Hi Elizabeth,
    It's my understanding that you have two choices on reusing vacated RINs.
    1. you can renumber all your RINs and they will not be vacant.
    2. Go to options, Customize, 4. Data Defaults, 4.4. Check Reuse abandoned RINs. and the next time you enter a new individual, the abandoned  RINs will be abandonded no more! That is what I prefer to do.

    That is not the only option.  If you go to Tools and then to Renumber RINs or MRINs you have three choices for each one.  Go to the help section and search RIN and then choose Renumber and it will walk you through the choices and steps.

    Thank you for the suggestions!  My problem seems to be with Customize section 4.4.  The check just refuses to be accepted.  I will try some of the other avenues mentioned.
