Is there such a thing as a Certified or qualified Legacy trainer? If so, how do you go about doing the course?
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
I haven't heard of such a thing Les Tobin - does this type of certification exist with other genealogy management programs out there? Or are you comparing this to something like Microsoft certification?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure if there was some sort of training package that Legacy offered, if you wanted to have a complete understanding of the Legacy program. It seems that there is no such formal training. I have been conducting some short "How to do it" presentations at my local library as part of its monthly Family History morning. I thought it would be appropriate that if there was formal training I'd do it to gain a higher level of professionalism. I guess I'll just have to make it up as I go along.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your questions, I don't know if other genealogy management programs offer this type of training or not, but I thought if anyone was to offer it, it would be Legacy.
I know several people teach either at their local libraries, adult education services, and/or Family History Centers. Legacy always encourages people to watch their CDs or read their book. I find the best way to learn is to go through the Help file and work through things. You might want to contact Legacy for further information about your question since this is a user to user group and we are not "affiliated" with Legacy. Good question though Les Tobin - I am guessing with so much changing all the time in these programs, it would be hard to have some type of certification.
