How to add photos?
Hi I have just joined.I have Legacy 7.5 have only just started adding info but am wanting to know how do I add photos.
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
Barbara their many ways of adding pictures in Legacy. In the Individual's Information page, to the right of the given name, you will see an Icon that looks like a picture with a frame around it, that is where you enter pictures relavent to that person. On the main family screen you will find the same icon under the Husband and Wife Parts. I use Legacy 8, on it under TOOLS TAB you have "Picture Centre". There are lots of other ways of inserting pictures that are relvent to the info such as Sources, Marriages, Deaths ect. ect... There are lots of videos on the net ( even here on LVUGC ) that show how best to add Datum and pictures.

Hi Barbara, I only joined today too but have been using Legacy for a number of years & may be able to help you. There are a number of ways to add photos depending on what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteI am assuming you already have the pictures filed on your computer. If you need help with filing your pictures/documents on your computer, I would suggest you post that as another query & I will not go into that in this reply.
1. At the bottom of the screen of the person you want the picture added to is an icon (5th from the left) called "Media Gallery". (Hover your mouse pointer over each of the icons & their names will show on screen). Click on the "Media Gallery" button. When the next screen opens you will see buttons at the top with say "Add Media", "Edit", "Help" & "Close". Click on the "Add Media" button and a pop-up box will appear with choices of what type of media you want to add such as Picture, Sound, Video, Document, Internet Website or whether to scan a picture. So if it is a Picture you are adding, click on the word "Picture" & then navigate to where your picture is stored on your computer. Double click on the picture you want to add & it will add it to Legacy Family Tree. From there you can fill in the details of the picture (or document) & click 'Close". Your picture should now be attached to that person.
2. If you want to add a Picture or Document (or whatever) to e.g., a Christening record, fill in the date & place the Christening took place in the correct area of the "Individual's Information" screen, click on the "+" at the right of that information & a pop-out screen appears asking you if you want to add the "Christening Address", Christening Notes", "Christening Pictures" or "Christening Shared Event". Click on "Christening Pictures" & the process from there is the same as item 1 above.
3. If you are wanting to add a Picture or Document (or whatever) into the "Events/Facts" section of the "individual's Information" screen, it is the same process as the above 2.
