Can I safely remove other countries from Legacy files?

Question I have been dying to ask. Is there a way to safely remove the other countries? I could just delete them, but that's why I added safely. For now, I need only the US. If I find I need more, I will reinstall. I am using Legacy 8. tia

  1. My first question would be: Remove them from where?

  2. Yes I am wondering the same thing as I think the master location list is populated when you enter places. If you got a database from someone else you could remove them but I don't know why since they don't really show up in anything unless you make use of them. Can you give us a bit more direction Darlene Sye?

  3. Sorry folks, didn't mean to stir...  Turns out that there isn't that much. Some timeline info (I decided to keep) and a few census forms. Maybe I was thinking of a previous version with a LOT of geographical stuff.      : + |   Or maybe I dreamed it.

  4. I suspect you could be referring to the Geo Location database that holds a large collection of country, state, county and city names from around the globe (and is still available for Legacy 8).  I wouldn't want to mass delete countries from that collection without knowing how it would affect the sychronization with state, county, and city names.  But it doesn't really clutter any location lists in Legacy - it's only needed when you want to search for a proper name & geographic location.  You do not have to use it at all.  It sounds like you might not have it installed with your current version of Legacy and that's fine too.

  5. I have been looking all over (again) for your post. Ed, I'm right behind you, found it. But it won't install. Maybe bc I need to turn off my antivirus. K, I'll probably get to that early next week. 67MB? Yes, that was it. Glad to know I didn't dream it.
