Finding source detail.
I want to find all Source Detail that contains 'string' but can't find how to do it.

Ron Walter Go to "Search" then "Find". Click on the 2nd tab "Detailed Search". Then under Look for choose "Individual", under "Where to Look" tab, choose "Source Citation", under the tab, "How to Look" choose "Contains", and then under the tab "What to Look For" type in the word "string". Then click on "Create List" at the bottom and you should have the list you desire.
ReplyDeleteMonique, thanks for your response; I'm still stuck because the string contains a blank; for example if I enter the string "George Washington" (without the quotes) the search returns all entries with either "George" or "Washington" rather than just the string "George Washington"; As far as I can tell (by looking at help) there are no permitted "syntax operators" - I would consider the quotes to be syntax operators
ReplyDeleteCan you choose another condition and choose the "and" in between them? For example: Choose- Contains: George (in the first condition) and then Contains: Washington (in the second condition) Sometimes you have to search within a search list if you have more than the three conditions that are offered on the screen . Tagging can also be useful in this case.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I choose a word that is very unique for my search. I know this has worked for my in the past when searching for specific Detail Citations.
Hopefully this helps or someone else will jump in with another answer!
