Using snipping tool - how to add snips into Legacy notes?
I've been using the Windows clipping tool a lot and tried to paste a clipping into the general notes section with no success. Is it possible to do this? I changed the clipping into a pdf image and that still didn't work. Thanks for any advice!
Only text can go into the notes section. Are you clipping text on a web page? If so, use your mouse to select the text rather than using the clipping tool.
ReplyDeleteIf your clipping part of a pdf or jpg I think you will need an OCR program to do the conversion to text - in my case I use Google's OCR program but the pdf needs to be on Google Drive for that to work.
I was clipping a small portion of a census record. I thought it might work as you can paste clippings into Word. The clippings were not necessary but would have been nice. Thanks for your advice.
ReplyDeleteJudy Burns. PDF or image clipping would need to be added to Multimedia, either the general area, or in an event itself.
ReplyDeleteOr, you can paste in to Word and save that document and attach as a multimedia.
For words, text, sometimes I find I have to clip into a word processor first and then, do another copy/paste. Somewhat weird, but, still better than me trying to transcribe what with my slow typing and error rate, eh? LOL
Thanks Carol, I haven't had any problem copy and pasting text from Word or even a partial spreadsheet from Excel (that surprised me). My problem here is that I am trying to paste an image. I guess I won't do that. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou can't paste an image but you can drag and drop it into one of the galleries. You have to save it first, then drag and drop it. Theoretically, that is. I can't presently make it work in v.7.5 but I have in the past.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to file it first though where it's going to live permanently, otherwise you'll end up with a lot of strange file-paths and you'll never find the original again.
