We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
Dear Tessa, Thank you for doing this series of Tuesday's Tips. As a new user of Legacy I find your topics most helpful.
ReplyDeleteThrilled that you are finding them helpful Elizabeth O'Donnell - I think you will find Legacy an excellent program with as many (or as few) features as you need to make sense of your family history. Are you new to family history/genealogy or just new to Legacy? If you used a different program, which one and how are you finding the switch? Finally you will find the LVUG Community members here very helpful if you have a question or need to help.
ReplyDeleteTessa, Thank you for this shortcuts hangout. I went and looked up the Legacy shortcuts and I love the two-key commands on family view. I'm a keyboardist, so leaving the keyboard to click a mouse isn't my favorite. Imagine my delight realizing I could type "C2" and child 2 will be in the husband/wife position; or "wp" brings the wife's parents into husband/wife position. Then I can type "eh" in order to edit the husband or "lw" to link a wife. Typing "e4" brings up the edit menu for the fourth child. There is certainly an easy pattern to this and it makes data entry faster.
ReplyDeleteI know - sometimes Legacy "hides it light under a bushel" so these are especially good to know. I like using the keyboard as well. Glad you found some shortcuts you will be using Karin Coppernoll.
ReplyDeleteTessa this has been a wonderful series. I really enjoy the opportunity to learn. I do have a question. In the recording you mentioned that Ctrl+P was the paste shortcut. I am not trying to be picky, but I think it should be Ctrl+V to paste is that correct?
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching that Mitch Parker yes indeed it is Ctrl+V for paste. Thanks
