Tuesday's Tip - This week we will learn how to use Evernote with Legacy!

Tuesday's Tip - This week I want to remind everyone in our LVUG Community that this Thursday is our monthly hangout-on-air here in Google+. This month we will be discussing Evernote and how to use it with Legacy. Shannon Thomas is going to give us a few examples of how she uses Evernote when she researches with Ancestry.com and how and when she puts the information into Legacy. This should be fun!

If you have Evernote - great you can follow along and either learn or share some tips. If you don't have Evernote, you might want to download the free version (I use that one) and play around with it before Thursday. Otherwise, come and learn and then decide if Evernote could help you organize your online research activities.

If you have attended live before you know to watch at the Hangout Event (you should have received an invitation/notice about our HOA - you could respond YES, MAYBE or NO)  and you should see our Hangout listed in the Upcoming Events (it should be right underneath the About this Community section and the title is a link) we have set up. Once you click on the Event link it brings up the Event and the arrow can be clicked and if we are live, you can watch right there. You can also watch on your schedule because our monthly HOAs are recorded (thank you Google and YouTube) and are at my YouTube Channel (found easily in the About this Community section).

Hope to see some of our 611 LVUG Community members on Thursday!

  1. I want to attend the hangout.  I am on Eastern Daylight time does that mean the hangout is at 4:00 pm my time?  Do I go to hangouts then hangouts on air?  Sorry this is all new to me.

  2. Not a problem Mitch Parker Yes the hangout is at 1:00 pm pacific so that would be 4:00 pm eastern. Is that the time you see when you look at the notice/invite (upcoming events in the LVUG Community)?

Do you want to be in the live hangout - we have room for a total of 10 people. If so, I will be sure to invite you to JOIN the hangout. You should be at your computer and have Google+ open. I tend to invite people into the room about 15 minutes before we start the broadcast so you can check your webcam and headset. When I attend hangouts, I usually get a bell ringing sound that lets me know someone wants me to hangout (I also get it on my mobile phone!). You would then click to join or accept the invitation. Be sure to join the hangout (don't start one of your own). You should have a webcam and a headset or be in a quiet room so we don't hear background noise. There are some tips about JOINing hangouts in the LVUG Hangouts topic (look at the topics to the left).

If you simply want to watch the hangout live then click on the event link (the title) in the upcoming events and it will open that page you can see an arrow which you click on to watch once we start the broadcast and you can add your comments right on that page and we will pick them up and weave them into the conversation. We will also be sure to post the live link in the Community.

Hope this helps and we look forward to seeing those of you who JOIN or VIEW our hangout (on air) on Thursday.
