Tuesday's Tip - Interview family about school days.

It's a new month and a new school year. Have you noticed all those back to school photos showing up on social media? The children are all dressed up with backpacks attached (some looking happier than others!). Doesn't it take you back?

Have you added education, graduation and/or school events in your Legacy program for yourself and family members? It depends on how you want to enter information - but if you have schools attended, dates of graduation from schools or universities, and/or achievements while at school, you can really tell part of your story as well as that of your family members (going forward and backward). I have included a few slides to give you some examples and resources to get you thinking about how you might want to enter this information. So now that the school bell is ringing in another year, let's get busy and add that part of the story to our events in Legacy.

Why not share how you enter this type of information into your Legacy program in the comments section. And are any of our LVUG Community members going back to school? Do share.

  1. I neglect to enter this type of info for myself. Something I need to get better at!

  2. Don't we all! We passed out sheets of paper at the last family gathering and got kids to interview their parents or aunts and uncles and then it reversed - so it was a bit of fun to find out things like when they went to school, what their favorite subjects were, if they got in trouble (for some reason that was real popular), what extra-curricular activities they did, etc. Then we collected the sheets so I could add them to my Legacy. Fun all around and the kids like being reporters.

  3. I have some items entered. I even have school admission register for my father and his siblings and found some interesting school records for my husband's ancestors which had been digitised and are now online.

  4. great Hilary Gadsby - what format do you use (do you put it all in one entry or do you enter a series of them by years)?

  5. I enter education as a single entry for each school with a time period.
