Does anyone have a procedure for recording stillbirths?
I am finding death certificates but, of course, there is no corresponding birth certificate. Should I record just the death or use the same information for the birth. My family members seem to have had an unusually high number of stillbirths in the first third of the twentieth century.
I have no idea what the standard is but I think I would record the same info in the birth and death fields.
ReplyDeleteI record the birth as the same death date. I don't know that is the standard either but I don't want to leave the birth date empty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with James Green and Kelly Booth. I also note that the baby was stillborn, or in the case where the baby lived for a short time (minutes, hours) how long. It is important to include this information as well as any name the parents selected.
