A problem with my Legacy 8 syncing with Family Tree.
I just discovered a problem with my Legacy 8 syncing with Family Tree. I just synced a recently deceased aunt and noticed a strange source that shows in my Legacy FamilySearch file. It is a Harrington Family history book. So I checked to see if I had accidentally added this source to her but it does not show up in her sources when I look at her individual record in Legacy. I looked at her sister and see there is a source listed for her in Legacy FamilyTree with a Massachusetts Vital Record source that is not a source for her. Again that source does not show up when I look at her individual record. Would others who are linked to FamilySearch please check there files and let me know if this is happening to you or if it is just lucky me that is having this happen. I am putting this under Discussion because I know how to do it. Just want feedback. Thanks!
I think it might be pulling the sources from Gamily Search. If someone else attaches a source in Family Search it might show up in Legacy.
ReplyDeleteThat's not it because neither aunt has sources in Family Tree at this point and besides that the incorrect sources do not even make sense. They are not a source for them by even a stretch. Neither are even mentioned in the history book and they were born in Utah not Massachusetts so that source does not make sense either.
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago, Geoff Rasmussen announced the following on his blog.
ReplyDelete"Minutes ago it appears that FamilySearch made some changes that affected our FamilySearch tools in Legacy. The effect is that you will not be able to see the FamilySearch data that you may have linked to. We are working to provide an update to Legacy that will restore this functionality. Watch this blog for the announcement of the free update. In the meantime, probably don't use the FamilySearch tools in Legacy for now."
I wonder if this and your problem are related. Might be a good idea to report this to Legacy Support and see if they can duplicate it.
This was posted the following day June 20, "As a follow-up to yesterday's information about Legacy 's FamilySearch functionality, all is operational again. Thanks everyone for your patience. No need to update Legacy at this time. Enjoy!" so that apparently isn't the problem either.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I missed that. Now I can work on mine. If I notice anything strange I'll let you know,
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! I would appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteSources from FamilySearch will never appear in your Legacy family file unless you intentionally and manually add it from FamilySearch. I don't know what the issue could be, but it's not related to FamilySearch as far as I know....
ReplyDeleteI will post pictures and then will unlink my aunts to Family Tree and then link them again and see if that solves the problem.
ReplyDeleteFound out some uncles were involved also. Of eleven children synced to FamilyTree, nine of them are showing incorrect sources. Part of them are the Harrington history shown and part of them are showing 2 sources for Massachusetts Vital Records. I have contacted Legacy Support.
ReplyDeleteGot concerned that these incorrect sources might show up in reports and charts. Previewed a family group record for my grandparents family and am happy and relieved to report the only sources that show up are valid sources.
ReplyDeleteHave been in touch with Legacy support. Heard back today that they have recreated by problem and have now fixed the bug. It will be released with the next update. Not sure when that will be.
