PDF printer for computers.
Got this from Kim Komando.
Do PDF is a free program that installs another printer to your system. When you go File / Print and select it you can save a browser page to a PDF. My mind is spinning with the possibilities of using this.
After download when you install the program seems to work in the background for a long time before it starts to indicate progress.
Here is the site:

mike griffin does this pick up as the PDF printer for when you choose to print a report from Legacy? How have you been doing that already (or did you not use this feature in Legacy - printing to PDF)? I also find printing to a csv file quite handy, especially so that I can manipulate the information (csv for me is Microsoft Excel workbooks). Do others use PDF printing with Legacy?
ReplyDeleteI will save and open a pdf report if I want to refer back to it while working on something in Legacy. When I was cleaning up my master sources I would print the "show list" report and toggle between that and the specific person.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a really long list I might print to paper so I can manually cross off items when they are finished.
I also save pdf reports to upload to my website.

ReplyDeleteThe Legacy PDF writer and this program are separate. This program is to capture pages in your browser and save them as PDF. There are other programs that accomplish this too.
Ah mike griffin I knew that - was trying to link up the use of the PDF program you mentioned with Legacy for our LVUG Community. Is that program simply a printer and not a PDF reader (so it is not able to read the PDFs created in Legacy? or does it operate as an additional PDF printer/reader?). And I do understand that Legacy uses whatever default PDF reader is on your computer (unless in options you choose another as the default).
ReplyDeleteLegacy has its own PDF writer and reader. I used the external PDF printer (I use PDF Creator) when a chart was so long in Legacy that Legacy wouldn't print it all. I chose the Print button instead of Create/PDF and then chose PDF Creator instead of going to paper.
ReplyDeleteA multitude of good things from Kim Komando's newsletter. Missed this one! The page devoted to downloads is www.kimkomando.com/downloads and from there, she's published a great amount of good information. Thanks...
