How do I search for source details?

Hi All, Firstly a happy Christmas to everyone. Secondly, does anyone know how to search for source details which have (or don't have) media files attached? Here's what I am trying to achieve > I am planning a trip to a Record Office over the holidays and so am busy preparing my research plan. One of my aims is to view original parish record sources and get photos for records where I only have transcriptions eg from FamilySearch records. One of the ways I thought I could identify whether I have viewed an original record is by checking whether there is a media file attached to the source. I can do this manually but it would be great if the collective wisdom out there could suggest any short cuts - or other methods to do this. I know in future I could use the 'verified' flag or another tag to identify when I have seen an original source, but this is one of those things I wish I knew before I had entered thousands of records! Ah well, another one chalked ...

I have just started a new tree in Legacy for a family member.

I have just started a new tree in Legacy for a family member. I have noticed that things are not being sorted automatically by date. This includes events, marriages and sometimes children's birth order.  I have confirmed that all the boxes are ticked in the Global Settings/ 2.2 Data Entry options.  Any ideas?

Using Function Keys F4 & F5 with your notes and sources.

Using Function Keys F4 & F5 to have your notes window & sources window open at the same time... I just stumbled on a shortcut that allows me to have my notes AND sources window open at the same time when editing an individual.  Here's how it works...and it only works in this order.. (1) Click on Notes (or press F5) to open the individual's notes window (2) Press F4 to open the sources window at the same time. This allows you to edit, copy etc the sources.  You then need to close the Sources window before you can use the Notes window again. I found this useful when reviewing my "Proof" notes that I record to explain why I believe a certain fact.  I can flick between my notes and sources quickly and still have the main Family screen visible to see the key relationships.  Hope this helps someone. How do I print To-Do items for a tagged group?

Image
How do I print To-Do items which are for a group of tagged individuals but only for a specific repository? When I go to the Record Selection tab of the To-Do report it seems that I can only choose to print all items for individuals with a tag number OR all individuals for a specific repository.  Have I understood this correctly? If this is correct, does anyone have a neat workaround?  Thanks

Source template ID number.

Is there an option to turn on the source template ID on permanently when viewing the Master Source List? I have been tidying up master sources where, sadly, I have used different templates for sources I know want to combine. (Using Tessa's naming system has highlighted this). When I try to combine sources which have different templates a pop up box asks if I want to show template ID's. I found this useful during my housekeeping but the disappear when I close the list. Is there a way to leave these displayed permanent? Hope this is clear enough. Thanks

Just joined LVUG community.

Hello All, My name is Mike. Like many others, I have joined the community following Tessa's great webinar.  I have been researching my family for over 25 years now.  I created a family history book for my Dad's 50th birthday and got bitten by the genealogy bug.  I live in South Wales, UK and am more than happy to help anyone who has Welsh or UK ancestors.    I have been using Legacy for many years now and am a big fan.  I am currently using Legacy 8.0 with Windows 8.0. I am looking forward to sharing with you all. Bye for now from a very windy and rainy Wales!
