Does anyone know how to make a Global correction to a SOURCE DETAIL  to a source used  by more than one person?  If  I make a correction  or an addition to the the SOURCE DETAIL, it would be so nice to be able to have this correction made to every person using that particular SOURCE DETAIL.  Without having to manually correct each source detail.  I know I can copy the source in the SOURCE LIST SCREEN and paste into the event where the previous incomplete Source Detail was recorded and then delete the previous source.

I have found a way to cut down data entry from sources that change very little, like Swedish Church records.  The first time I tried this I did it with fear and trembling, but it seems to works.  I will outline what I did here: My great uncle Johan Knut Carlsson appears in several Swedish parish record books  The only difference is the book number and the date range. 1) After making the entry for the first entry in book AI:56 (1858-1862),  I then 2) will select the same source and make the entry to the detail sections and then save.  This time he appears in book AI:62 (1863-1867) 3) I  then click on the Edit Source button, and make changes to the Source screen. 4) NOW for the word of CAUTION.  When you click on the SAVE  button, Legacy will give you a choice . Click on the SECOND OPTION: "2.  Apply the changes to a NEW copy of the master source."   This will create a new master source and leave the original the same.  If y...

   This makes entering a shared event so much easier that having to create the event for each person.  When you create a new event, you will see on the right hand side, underneath the Help button, two small buttons.  The button on the left is to copy the event to the "event clipboard."  After you have completed the data entry for an event you can click on this button. This will copy everything from that event to the "event clipboard."  Next go the person  who shares the event, and open add event.  Then using the button to the right you can paste all the information from the "event clipboard" and it will automatically fill in the four fields on the event menu and all other data associated with the event. This is almost as easy as using the new shared event feature in Legacy 8, but should get around the concerns that other have expressed in this community.
