Misspellings in census records and transcribing information.
Considering the extent of misspellings in census records, how far do you go in re-transcribing before entering in your database? Or do you?
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
I will transcribe as I see it in the record and use comments/notes to explain the differences in records. I have only changed my database if a primary record, which is more reliable than records previously recorded, is found.
