How to create a source citation report for a specific focus group - help.
I am trying to create a source citation report for a specific focus group. Can someone walk me through creating a focus group and then tagging that group? I think I will then be able to print a source citation report for the tagged group. Or does someone have a better way to do that?
Thanks.
Go to Search/Miscellaneous/Focus Group.
ReplyDeleteWith "Change" choose your starting person, (depending if it's your top ancestor or bottom descendant or ... can't answer this question for you)
Click View/Set Focus Group.
Click Clear List.
Choose your option from the 6 buttons at the bottom.
Follow through on the next screen and click OK.
Click OK.
Click Create List.
On the Search list that comes up in the Name List:
Right-Click Options.
Click Advanced Tagging.
Choose an un-used Tag number and click Tag Everyone in Search List.
Thank you! I will try this. I knew there had to be a way to do this. I haven't used Focus Groups before.
ReplyDeleteKarin Coppernoll It's quite easy. Do not feel daunted by it.
ReplyDeleteJL Beeken, I got the Focus Group tagged. Thanks. It wasn't as hard as it seemed. However, I can't figure out how to print the source citations report for only those tagged individuals. I don't see an option for that. What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteKarin Coppernoll I'm using v.7.5 but I assume they haven't gone backwards in later versions.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, under Source Citation Report I see what you mean. I read it wrong before. It's not tagged people, it's only tagged sources! And sources must mean Master Sources because I don't think you can go through a list of people tagging their sources individually.
Uh-oh. I have sent you on a merry chase. But at least you've got Focus Groups down now.
I don't have a clue from here. Obviously it can't be done for a specific set of people. At least that's what it's looking like to me right now.
JL Beeken, Thanks. I was hoping to trim down my 305 page source citation report to a particular family line!
ReplyDeleteKarin Coppernoll Now that you mention it, I remember trying to do the same thing some years ago and wondered why that option wasn't available. Sorry to send you in the wrong direction.
