Using Legacy 9 - how to merge two family files?
Using Legacy 9 what is the easiest way to merge two family files? Does anyone know how the notes are handled?
We started out as a Google+ Community - it is closing down so we have migrated here to Blogger. This will be the place for 6+ years worth of posts and comments (an archive of sorts) as well as the place to dish up current questions, comments, and tips about our genealogy software of choice, Legacy Family Tree.
I doubt it's different from v.7.5 that I use.
ReplyDeleteFirst, open the main file and then use File/Import/Legacy File and choose to add the other one to your existing file. When you're finished with that, go to Merge and check for duplicates.
Merging is not a one-click operation. For anyone who's in both files, the Merge function will bring up a list that you have to merge one person at a time. When you're looking at the two same people side by side, you can click through various tabs and make your own choices.
For notes, append, copy and paste, or choose one side over the other.
