Using a photo instead of Legacy icons.

I can't figure out how to get a photo to show up where the male or female icon is. I have set a preferred photo, but it isn't there. What am I doing wrong? Or an I wrong and Legacy doesn't do that? Thanks in advance. -Leslie

Tuesday's Tip - Backup your Legacy files.

Tuesday's Tip - Today is the last day of February - where did the month go? Here is a quick tip that many of us forget to take the time to do. It is time to backup our Legacy files (whether you do it on the last day of the month or first day of the month - the key is to DO IT!). No matter if you back up regularly when you work in your Legacy files, I think it is a good idea to backup each month. Then every six months go ahead and delete backups you no longer need. You never know when something will happen - either a hard drive crash, a cloud glitch, or a jump drive lost. Backup to 2 different places (I use the cloud and an external hard drive). Let's be safe rather than sorry.

I have a suggestion for a Tuesday tips or a video.

Having an image for every record in Legacy - my summer project.

Image
So I am prepping to make the best use of my time when I am paying for Ancestry this summer. Cleaning up sources (Ancestry really did me wrong on that score, so there is a lot of cleanup.) But one thing I am planning to do is make sure I have an image for every citation that should have one. The quickest, most effective way for me to do this is to use a placeholder image. When I find a "missing" image, I add a placeholder image/file, named by my conventions (i.e. Vital Records Birth Cornelius Wood Alexander.) This way, I can easily see in my media file which records are missing images. AND when I download the missing image, I can simply replace that image. My new data will be a simple "save as" when I find it. (this image is free to use and share.)
